    Which web browsers are supported?

    The latest versions of most commonly used browsers: Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari are supported browsers for this interface.


    Where can I go to make an online payment?

    Will any personal information be shared with any third party?

    No, the City does not sell or provide any personal information to third party individuals or organizations.


    What additional charges or Service fees will be assessed when paying a ticket online?

    If making payment by Credit Card, a Service Fee payment of 1.86% or $1.00, whichever is greater, is required.


    What can I do if I only have one credit card and need to pay more than one ticket?

    You may pay multiple tickets with one credit card provided you do not exceed the $1500 limit or repeat the use of the same credit card within a 3 day period.


    Why am I allowed to pay only one ticket at a time?

    You are allowed to pay more than one ticket at a time provided the total amount paid does not exceed $1500. Please follow the link to pay tickets.


    Why is there a limitation on the amount charged during a 3 day period for using credit cards?

    The City has introduced this as a security measure to mitigate fraudulent transactions.


    Why can't fees such as Drivers License Suspension fees, boot fees, tow fees or storage fees be paid online?

    Tickets that are in seizure eligibility status cannot be paid online at this time. Additional documentation is necessary to release the tow and verify owner. Payment for such fees must be made in person at one of the Department of Finance locations. Please follow the link to view the Payment Locations.


    Will the online payment system allow partial payments to be made?

    No, partial payments are not accepted online. However, partial payments are accepted at payment center locations.


    Will I be able to make an online payment if I live outside of the United States?

    Provided you have a credit card with a billing address within the United States, that is, a billing address with a valid U.S. zip code, you will be able to pay online.


    Will the online payment system allow me to use a debit card as the form of payment?

    Yes, debit cards are accepted. However, prepaid debit cards are not accepted.


    What does a red exclamation point (Ineligible Ticket) next to a ticket mean?

    A red exclamation point means you will not be able to make a payment on that ticket for the following reason:

    • The Ticket is marked as "Paid" or "Dismissed" or;
    • The Plate is in seizure status or;
    • There is a Drivers License Suspension on record.


    What payment options do I have if I cannot pay my ticket online?

    If you are unable to make a payment online, you may send a check or money order to: City of Chicago Dept. of Finance, P.O. Box 6289, Chicago IL 60680-6289 or you may visit one of the City's Department of Finance locations to complete your transaction. Please follow the link to view the Payment Locations.


    What does it mean if I receive the following notification when attempting to pay, "The transaction was declined. Please select a new payment method and try again."?

    If you received that message, then:

    • The credit card number that was entered may have been entered incorrectly or is out of the range of valid credit card numbers, or
    • The Bank is reported that the credit card is over the designated limit, or
    • The Bank is reporting that the credit card was reported lost or stolen, or
    • The credit card being used is not one of the credit card types allowed for making a payment.
    • Either you may have entered in an invalid or incorrect CID number, or
    • The payment was not processed by the credit card network. or
    • You may have entered an invalid zip code for the Billing address that your Bank is stating the card is registered to.

    What is a notice number and how does it differ from a ticket number?

    By way of an example, the Ticket was what the officer left on your vehicle informing you of the violation. The Notice is what was sent to you in the mail informing you of the violation.


    Where is the notice number located?

    The Notice number can typically be found in the top third of the Notice. Please refer to The Notice Images Help Screen.


    Where is the ticket number or citation number?

    The Ticket number (also referred to as Citation number), can be found on the ticket that was left to you on your vehicle (for non-camera enforcement violations). Please refer to The Ticket Images Help Screen.


    What information is required in order to search for a ticket?

    In order to search for a ticket you will need any one of following: License plate number, Notice number, Driver's License Number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or Ticket number


    What does the disclaimer "By using this interface, you agree to pay the amount due toward each ticket number you have entered." mean and does that apply to searching for tickets as well?

    The disclaimer is not meant to inhibit you from paying or searching. You are not required to pay your tickets if you simply want to search for tickets. It is in place to ensure the user is using the online payment system as intended.


    Will I be able to make an online payment even if the search results do not return my ticket number?

    If the search results do not return the ticket you intend to pay, you may still make a payment. Once the ticket has been entered into the system, your payment will be automatically applied.

    Please include a copy of your ticket or notice, if available, and print your ticket number or notice number on your check or money order so we know where to apply your payment.

    Why don't all my plates appear when I sign up?

    The system automatically combines plates which are registered with the same Driver's License Number (DLN). If you have a plate that doesn't have a DLN associated with its registration, then it will not attach to your e-mail profile automatically, and you will need to contact at 312.744.7275 to have the plate added.


    Why can't I edit my e-mail online?

    You must contact Customer Service at (312)744-7275 to update your e-mail address.


    Why can't I create an e-mail profile when I pay for someone else's ticket?

    An e-mail profile must match the first and last name on the ticket.


    I'm part of a corporation, why can't I create an e-mail profile?

    Many corporations participate in a corporate noticing program and receive notifications monthly.


    What is the corporate program, and how can I sign up?

    If you are a company that has a fleet of vehicles registered to it, you can execute an agreement to participate in the corporate noticing program. License plate numbers will be required to be provided to the City. The company will be notified monthly via e-mail of tickets issued to the plates on the list. Contact Customer Service at (312)744-7275 for additional information.


    Why can't I create an e-mail profile for a ticket that I just received?

    It may take up to 7 days for a ticket to be entered into the system. A payment can be made at this time, but you will be unable to create an e-mail profile.


    Can I unsubscribe from the e-mail notifications

    Yes, you can unsubscribe using the link in the e-mail sent to you.


    Do I have to sign up for e-mail notification in order to pay?

    No, you do not have to sign-up for e-mail notifications in order to pay a ticket.


    Can I re-subscribe to e-mail notification after unsubscribing?

    Yes, you may call (312)744-7275 to re-subscribe or re-create an e-mail profile via the web.


    Why can't I see the information I provided as my profile?

    For privacy and security purposes, contacting Customer Service at (312)744-7275 is the only way you can obtain that information.
